Orientation to Inspiration: A Creative Beginning for KyCAD’s Incoming Class
A new academic year is on the horizon, and the Kentucky College of Art + Design is preparing to welcome a fresh wave of creativity, passion, and talent. This August, new students will arrive on campus for a week designed to connect them to the KyCAD community, immerse them in our resources, and spark the inspiration that will fuel their artistic journey.
Orientation will kick off Welcome Week, giving students the tools and knowledge they need to navigate life at KyCAD. From meeting faculty and staff to exploring our facilities and learning about academic resources, the day is all about building a solid foundation for the years ahead.
The Resource Fair will follow, offering new students the chance to gather essential information (and a little KyCAD swag!) while connecting with representatives from every department. Whether it’s academic support, student life, or creative opportunities, students will discover the many ways KyCAD will support their growth.
Later in the week, energy and creativity will take center stage at the Welcome Back Bash—a lively celebration bringing new and returning students together. Highlights include custom T-shirt design stations, a campus cookout, and plenty of opportunities to build new friendships.
Students will also step beyond campus with a visit to the 21c Museum Hotel, where they’ll explore world-class contemporary art and get a taste of Louisville’s vibrant cultural scene. This experience reinforces one of KyCAD’s core values: that learning and inspiration extend far beyond the classroom.
By the end of the week, these new student-artists won’t just have a class schedule—they’ll have a community, a creative home, and the first sparks of inspiration that will shape their KyCAD journey.
Welcome New Students! We can’t wait to see what you create.
