KyCAD Alumna Jada Dixon Designs St. James Court Art Show Poster
This year, the St. James Court Art Show partnered with Kentucky College of Art + Design to create the official poster for the 68th annual neighborhood event. While a number of our students and recent graduates submitted strong designs, the work of KyCAD alumna Jada Dixon was ultimately selected as the winner by an esteemed panel of judges.
At a recent press conference held at The Filson Historical Society, Dixon explained that she "sought to capture not just the essence of the event but also the profound impact that art can have on our lives." Her unique design beautifully incorporates the iconic court fountain as well as a triumphant woman, both depicted through gentle, flowing strokes of watercolor. Dixon told attendees that "this medium was chosen intentionally for its calming effect and peaceful aesthetic, reflecting the serene beauty that art brings to our world.” Following the initial unveiling, Dixon and her poster were subsequently featured on several local television broadcasts.
The St. James Court Art Show is a fine arts and contemporary crafts show featuring hundreds of artists from around the U.S. The Art Show will take place October 4-6 in Historic Old Louisville.
