Lyall Bush

Associate Professor + Chair of Film

Lyall Bush is Professor and Chair of Film at Kentucky College of Art + Design. He holds a master's degree in English Literature from Rutgers University, where he also studied film. Throughout his career, he has combined creative practice with academic leadership and arts administration.

Before joining KyCAD, Bush served as Executive Director of Seattle's Northwest Film Forum and Richard Hugo House, and taught at Seattle University, the University of Washington, DigiPen Institute of Technology, and Cornish College of the Arts, where he chaired the Film and Media Department for a decade.

Bush is the author of ten feature-length screenplays, a novel represented by Hill Nadell Literary Agency, and the short story collection Take the F Train and Other Stories. He has also written, directed, and produced short films and published scholarship on subjects including Jean Renoir, Twin Peaks, and surrealism in cinema.
