On December 9th, KyCAD welcomes artist, composer, and puppeteer Colin Self for an evening that invites us to rethink what art can hold. Self’s work blends experimental sound, performance, and community-based creative practice—often reaching into the space between the living and the deceased to explore how we gather, connect, and listen.

Born in Oregon and based between Brooklyn and Berlin, Self has created operas, plays, albums, and collaborative systems such as XOIR, an alternative approach to group singing, and TIAPS, a performance school they co-founded in Maine. Their recent commissions—from Where The Souls Go to Kompass—continue their exploration of ritual, community, and the unseen.
