At this year's Kentucky State Fair, KyCAD's Andrew Cozzens (Associate Professor of Studio Art + 849 Gallery Director) and Maria Della Bella (Director of Admissions) were on hand to present several awards to talented young artists from across the Commonwealth.

The pair judged pieces representing many categories including photography, painting, fiber arts, ceramics and more. Ultimately, the winners were selected both on the strength of the work submitted as well as their alignment with one of our Six Centers of Inquiry: Center of the Story, Center of the Human, Center of Environment, Center of Decorative Arts and Center of Visualization.

"It was so exciting to see the wonderful effort the artists put into their work this year,” Della Bella said. “Offering these awards is one small way that we can show our support, and I hope this gesture will help encourage them to keep going with their practice."

Recipients were each awarded a hand-crafted ribbon and $100 cash prize along with a $2,000 scholarship should they choose to apply for admission to KyCAD in the future.
