This year’s marquis fundraiser is hosted by Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson, and will transform Barn 8 into a traditional life drawing studio. The ability to draw the body, translate and describe the human form is a fundamental part of training the artist. Bringing the art school to life, artists and students will be working from models throughout the evening with guests invited to join in. The creative juices will be flowing and masterpieces will be made! The evening will culminate with an auction of the evening’s artwork, starting low and ending high. If you have a figurative work of art that you would like to donate to the auction, works will be gratefully received with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the college.

Most importantly, funds raised through this event will help KyCAD as it moves forward to meet its ambitious new goals. The new DRAW initiative (Develop and Recruit an Artistic Workforce) focuses on building diversity and an expanded conversation centered in the contemporary visual arts as essential to building a culturally nuanced, sensitive, and expansive creative workforce for the future. It has already received funding and support from Louisville Metro Council.

Since becoming independent in Spring 2018, the KyCAD faculty and students have continued to excel, with students winning an international award in 3D/AR modeling, faculty receiving significant Creative Development Awards, and faculty and students working in collaboration with the Co-Immunity project to visualize responses to the recent pandemic. And in May 2022, KyCAD will honor its first graduates from Kentucky’s only independent, licensed College of Art and Design. KyCAD is actively expanding our curriculum, launching new programs, building partnerships in our local and regional communities, pursuing independent accreditation, and laying the foundation for exponential growth.

This is leading-edge art education, and your support is critical in pushing KyCAD and Louisville to new heights. Please see the enclosed sponsorship information to learn more. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, April 12.

Warmly, The KyCAD 2022 Embody Committee
