Leslie Millar’s area of expertise is 20th-century American Poetry. In January of 2019, she shepherded the inaugural KyCAD class through First Year Writing Seminar. Millar taught both Freshman Composition and English Literature at the University of Louisville from 1989 to 1991 and more recently from 2009 to 2017. Leslie and her husband James own and operate the Quonset Hut, a fine art press located in Phoenix Hill.

In addition to her professional duties, Millar has acted as a board member/trustee for numerous community organizations including: the ACLU of Kentucky, Cherokee Triangle Association, Highland Presbyterian Weekday School, Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, and Sarabande Books. Millar is a founding board member of Squallis Puppeteers and ARTxFM WXOX 97.1 FM. Millar chaired the Annual Fund Campaign at Louisville Collegiate School and the Capital Campaign at KMAC.

Millar has also been active with the Speed Art Museum, serving as Chair of the New Art Collectors (now the Contemporary Collectors) since 2007. She currently sits on the Board of Governors and the Collections Committee at the Speed.
