Jessica Bennett Kincaid is an arts professional and independent curator interested in collaborative creative processes exploring human interaction and social conventions. Kincaid’s curatorial practice currently focuses on the convergence of politics, social practice, commentary, and change through art in public space.
In her appointment as Public Art Administrator at Louisville Metro Government, Kincaid directs the city’s Office of Arts and Creative Industries and Metro’s Public Art Program. Prior to working at Louisville Metro Government, she held positions as the Collection Manager at 21c Museum Hotel, as well as Coordinator of Collections and Exhibitions at the University of Louisville Hite Art Institute- where she also served as lecturer in art history. Her current teaching focuses on artists’ professional practices and creative entrepreneurship.
She has held guest curator appointments at the Frazier History Museum and Louisville Visual Art and curated exhibitions include: All of Bob Lockhart, a multi-part retrospective at PUBLIC gallery; Resonant Disclosures at the Cressman Center for Visual Arts; SEEN/UNSEEN: Perspectives on Perception, a co-curated exhibition for the 2017 Louisville Photo Biennial; and Project 20: Failure in Progress at Zephyr Gallery.
Kincaid sits on the board of Fund for the Arts and is a member of the International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art (IKT)- recently co-organizing the 2022 IKT conference in Louisville. She earned her master’s degree in Critical and Curatorial Studies from the University of Louisville, and holds a dual Bachelor of Art in Fine Art and Art History.
