21c Museum Hotel Louisville & KyCAD Host Scotland Based Artist
Louisville, Ky. — 21c Museum Hotel Louisville and KyCAD will host Anthony Schrag, artist and researcher at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland, for a talk on September 20, 2018 at the 21c Museum Hotel from 6:00 to 8:30pm. The talk is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception with the artist.
“I am very much looking forward to being in Louisville and getting started with the KyCAD/Louisville Orchestra participation project. It is really wonderful, too, that 21c is supporting me to give an artists talk which – I hope – can provide a broader context for my work… and an opportunity to explain some of my crazy ideas,” says Schrag.
This talk invites those practitioners and organizations who ‘work with people’ to examine the ethics and reasons for why we are engaged in such work, and looks to develop strategies for making artworks within the public realm that are neither about cultural colonization nor the replication of dominant hegemonies.
Schrag is visiting Louisville as part of a larger collaboration between KyCAD and the Louisville Orchestra, involving 7 regional, national and internationally acclaimed artists who will create site-specific, time-based works that build upon, interpret, or reimagine classical works performed by the orchestra for two nights in January of 2019. Visit www.louisvilleorchestra.org for more information.
